Chartered Information Systems Practitioner
Certified Management Consultant

Throughout his career Vic Forrington has worked at the forefront of strategic developments in the application of information technology and has advised many prestigious organisations at critical stages of their IT development.

After graduating in mathematics from Cambridge University he undertook post-graduate computer studies there until joining the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough where he was responsible for mathematical and computing support to a range of strategic aerospace projects. He then became a Research Fellow at Manchester University, working on the application of very advanced research computers to large-scale scientific, engineering and business problems.

He then spent ten years with the Urwick international management consultancy group advising and assisting clients at all stages in the planning, implementation and effective utilisation of computer systems. This embraced assignments in some dozen countries, including major projects in the UK, Europe, USA, Middle East and Far East. He was also extensively involved in the evaluation and development of client services and supporting methodologies within the computer consultancy practice. Ultimately he was a senior partner responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams operating in strategic private and public sector consultancy projects.

He left the Urwick Group to set up a consultancy practice specialising in the design of decision support systems for direct use by senior management in client organisations and supporting a wide range of clients in the UK and Europe. This technical development programme evolved into the implementation of a pioneering integrated electronic office system that was used by a number of large organisations to evaluate the techniques and benefits of ‘the paperless office'. It was subsequently engineered into a comprehensive software product that was marketed and supported in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

His most recent design project is an integrated management information system embracing financial, marketing and sales, and human resources functionality within a relationship and knowledge management environment. This is applicable to both business-to-business and business-to-consumer operations. It is used as a framework for supply chain system strategy development and for the design and implementation of management information sub-systems within the strategy.

He is currently engaged in research in the application of emerging technologies to future systems strategies, including wide bandwidth internet and digital TV services, mobile communications/processing devices and ecommerce development
